Easter Funk, Sickness, and Sleepiness

Gavin took his first steps just two days shy of his 11-month birthday. Now that he is just a week shy of being 1 year old, he thinks he must be walking ALL DAY, getting into everything, and of course, sleeping as little as possible. It is a nightmare to dress him, change his diaper, and get him to sit for even a few seconds for a lovely family photo. This being the case, please be impressed by the relative quality of the family photo above taken on Easter Sunday!

On Saturday we took Gavin swimming at our next door neighbor's house in between sessions of General Conference. Tony and Becky (the neighbors) gave him the fun floaty device you see in the picture. We want Gavin to be exposed to water often and early so that swimming and water sports will be fun and easy for him throughout his life. He seemed to like the water even better when Mom and Dad were just holding him without the floaty tube. By the way - sorry to all those in colder climates! Think warm thoughts!

Gavin was really sick a couple of weeks ago with a nasty flu. We had to give
him some anti-nausea and vomiting medication, but it completely knocked him out. He was fussy and ill all day, but 15 minutes after giving him this medication (almost to the minute) he was still and falling asleep. This photo was taken at his bedtime, and we just let him lay there for a couple of hours before we attempted to move him to his crib. We are so grateful that he is all better!

I took this picture today because it is the first time Gavin has fallen asleep eating! He usually fights to stay awake and finish, but the biter biscuit proved too much for him. He ate most of it, but apparently he just couldn't swallow the last bite. He actually had the last bite in his mouth when he fell asleep (safe, eh?) and was reflexively sucking on it in his sleep. When I woke him up to wipe his face and put him down for a nap, he finished chewing and swallowed it. How's that for a charmed life - eat, sleep, and wake up eating! He certainly is his daddy's boy~

I think it's a great pic! He looks like he is having a blast in that water toy. We have some more water toys and a beach to play with them at. It's only a little ways away if you are ever bored one weekend! wink wink
